It has been a long time my readers. But for good reason. I GOT ENGAGED!!!! So that kind of changed all of the plans that I had for this week. I am still in shock and can't believe that I am finally in this stage of my life. But at the same time, I am so excited about it. Over the past few days, pretty much every single person I have told in person, whether I know them that much or not, has asked me one question: how did he do it? So in order to save you guys some time, and to brag on my fiance a bit, here is a little bit about how he proposed.
We were up in Highlands, NC for a weekend getaway with my family. He found this really cool art gallery called The Boscom, which overlooks the mountains and was an incredibly beautiful building. One particular exhibit that was there at the time was called Bartram's Boxes Remix, where the whole slogan was, "What's In the Box?". The artist had taken wood and whittled it in big and small intricate boxes that were incredible. After making it through all the exhibits, we then walked outside to look at their pavilion where we had seen on their website, they do alot of wedding receptions. This is the point in the story where I usually have to explain to people that me and Auston knew we were going to get married after I graduated from college so we had started keeping our eyes open for potential spots.
So, we were walking along the pavilion talking about all the great things about this location and how it fit what we envisioned for the reception. He looked at me and said, "But there's only one thing wrong with this place," and I was like, great, he's gonna find one small thing he doesn't like even though I really love it. But instead, he said, "We need to get engaged first." At that moment, I literally started freaking out. We had waited so long, and I knew it was coming eventually. But there is nothing you can do to prepare for that moment, when the man that you love starts to get down on his knee and ask you to spend the rest of your life with him. Tears immediately start welling up in my eyes and running down my face. I could hardly concentrate because I was still in shock that the moment I had been waiting for for a lifetime was actually happening right in front of me. After what seemed like an eternity, he finally asked, and of course I said YES! We had a great day after that, going to dinner at a really nice restaurant with my parents, The Log Cabin. (p.s. if you're out and about in Highlands looking for an awesome dinner spot, head to The Log Cabin for some amazing dishes and wine.) We had some great champagne and enjoyed the rest of the weekend at my grandparent's cabin.
Now after all the craziness and excitement is kinda over, I get to start planning a wedding! I am so excited and nervous at the same time. So get ready to start seeing alot of wedding content! I have a good idea of what I want so far, so check me out on Pinterest to see what I'm thinking about. Any wedding planning tips or marriage advice is greatly appreciated! So stick around to see the progress of the planning and details. It is going to be really small so I will try to keep everyone updated and see what we're doing and feel involved. And a big THANK YOU to everyone who has shared with us in our excitement for the engagement and the wedding. We couldn't be successful without our friends and family and others who encourage and support us along the way.
