Week 1: The Befores
I sat down this weekend (stood rather) and looked through all the stuff that currently lives in the tool closet. Then I was able to prioritize what needed to stay and what could either go in the trash or out into the shed. Priority one is all the small pieces (like screws, nails, etc.) and power tools, so they get the eye level shelf.
Since the closet is so deep (2') I think I can do a few shelves that are half the depth which would leave room to store the broom and/or vacuum in there.
There is surprisingly not a lot of inspiration for specific tool closets on Pinterest, most people have sheds or garages. But I did find these few that gave me Marie Kondo fever.
This next week I'll focus on clearing out all the tools and prepping it to paint. Maybe I'll even get a little ambitious and pick out the paint.
Do yourself a favor and spend the next 30 minutes, an hour, your whole day reading through all the Week 2 posts.
I am curious how you make your own tool closet especially since you couldn't find a lot of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHaha me too! I've been noodling on it all week. Hopefully once I get everything out of it lightning will strike.
DeleteOh there is so much inspiration here for upgrading my husband shop area, which is in desperate need for storage, since it is in our unfinished basement...lol Too many project not enough time!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha there never is enough time!! Ooo that sounds like a fun project.
DeleteYou have a lot of great inspiration ideas. Can't wait to see it complete. I would be so nice to have everything in its place.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patti! I'm really looking forward to it.
DeleteSo excited to see how it turns out! I love the idea of a closet specifically for all of your tools etc!
ReplyDeleteAhh thank you! I'm excited to have it decluttered!
